Organizing Structure
Everyone is welcome in Free DC’s organizing. The following is an overview of our governance, working groups, and opportunities for leadership.
Advisory Council
Nominations are currently open for Free DC’s first Advisory Council. This seven-person group will be responsible for guiding our work and holding the campaign accountable for our shared goals. Nominate someone to our Advisory Council.
Leadership Team
Free DC’s Executive Director, Campaign Director, and Organizing Director manage day-to-day needs and support the campaign’s grassroots leadership. Contact:

Ward Teams
Ward Teams organize within each of DC’s eight wards to bring neighbors together as part of this campaign. Ward Teams hold house parties, join neighborhood canvasses, and organize community events. Each Ward Team meets once a month and meetings are open to everyone. Find the next meeting of your Ward Team.
Regular Meetings
Campaign Orientations for new members are held twice-monthly: in-person on the first Wednesday, and online on the third Thursday.
Working Groups and Ward Teams set their own schedule of meetings, typically monthly or twice-monthly.
Cross-team meetings are opportunities for Working Group and Ward Team leaders to coordinate with one another. Standing meeting date to be determined.
Leadership Team meets weekly.
Advisory Council will meet quarterly on a date to be determined.
