DC, we are calling on you to cancel your Dash Pass, delete your DoorDash account, and delete the app.
For the last year and a half, DoorDash has been silent as delivery drivers in DC have been hunted in the streets and even killed by ICE and other federal police.
Now, the company has come out in support of H.R.9720, the “D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act.” This bill is a blatant attack on DC’s power in order to support Trump’s grotesque desire to take over the capital.
What is H.R. 9720, “D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act”?
H.R. 9720, the “D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act permanently revokes DC’s ability to set our own taxes, a move that would be both insulting and destructive. Rep. Maxwell Frost called it, “the worst attack on Home Rule since 1973.”
DoorDash not only supports the bill, but admits they instigated Congress into action on it.
Their reason why? The company doesn’t like DC’s 20-cent fee that funds food access programs for low-income residents. The fund benefits people in food deserts like Wards 7 and 8, which the company profits from.
Our Demands
Issue a public statement against ICE and other federal police who are hunting and killing delivery drivers
State publicly that the "DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force" should end
Immediately withdraw their support for H.R. 9720
