U.S. Attorney for DC
Unlike every other municipality in the United States, local crimes in DC are prosecuted by a federal prosecutor. This prosecutor, formally titled the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, is not accountable to the people of DC in any way. DC residents have no ability to elect or appoint this position, despite the fact that this prosecutor’s actions can have devastating consequences on local communities.
DC communities deserve to have power over our top prosecutor. Jeanine Pirro’s record of misconduct is showing us exactly why.
Trump has appointed former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro to serve as U.S. Attorney for DC. Pirro has been called an “election conspiracy theorist, COVID-19 denier, and bigot” and her consistently fraudulent claims are detached from reality. In July 2026, a coalition of more than 100 judges and lawyers filed a formal ethics complaint against Pirro based on her clear record of abusing her office, attempting indictments based on political views, prosecuting without evidence, and routinely failing to find probable cause.
