Free DC is partnering with the DC Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (DCNLG) to train legal observers. Legal observers help ensure persons know their rights during encounters with the police, help connect arrested persons to jail support, document police misconduct, and assist with locating persons who have been arrested.

If you are interested in being trained as a legal observer, please register for one of the training dates below. Please complete the registration form no later than one week in advance of the training you want to attend.

Monday, June 29 at 7:00 PM (complete registration by June 22)

Sunday July 12 at 1:30 PM (complete registration by July 5)

If you cannot make either date but are interested in being trained, please complete the form. If there is enough interest, we may schedule additional trainings.

Please note: given the time and effort required to train volunteers, you will be asked to commit to a certain number of actions. Further details will be provided at the training.
