We've seen National Guard on our streets for almost a year now, and the DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force recently announcement a summer surge of 5,000 more troops to our city. Many of us have had questions about what it looks like to deployed, what choices National Guard members have, what consequences members might face in situations where they refuse orders, how to effectively interact with them, and how to push back against the occupation.

Members of Free DC's Veteran's Constituency Group have graciously agreed to give us a National Guard 101 presentation, and answer any questions they can. We will also review some footage of national guard abuses of neighbors, and take some time to hear from you about what phrases you say to National Guard, what the reaction has been, and how we can evolve our approach with the summer surge.
