DC has been under a hostile military occupation for nearly an entire year, and for 11 days in August we are telling the story of the ways Trump’s occupation has hurt our communities.

August 7: Delete DoorDash
For the last year and a half, DoorDash has been silent as delivery drivers in DC have been hunted in the streets and even killed by ICE and other federal police. On July 22, 2026, the company came out in support of H.R.9720, the “D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act.” This bill is a blatant attack on DC’s power in order to support Trump’s grotesque desire to take over the capital.

H.R. 9720, the “D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act permanently revokes DC’s ability to set our own taxes, a move that would be both insulting and destructive. Rep. Maxwell Frost called it, “the worst attack on Home Rule since 1973.”
