Help us flip Virginia’s 5th this fall
Since the start of last year Congress has introduced a historic number of attacks against DC. These bills are a dangerous threat to our communities: they would force DC to allow 14-year-olds to be tried as adults, intensify immigration enforcement, make the "DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force" permanent, and so much more.
A relatively small group of Representatives are responsible for these bills. These individuals have chosen to attack DC rather than address the needs of their own voters. With November's midterm elections on the horizon, it is time for those choices to have consequences.
This fall, we're setting out make members of Congress who are attacking DC lose their seats — starting with John McGuire in Virginia's 5th.
John McGuire has voted for more than 20 bills attacking DC in some way. He has parotted Trump's lies about DC, and was the lead sponsor of the "Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Act" (H.R. 5103), which would expand Trump’s "DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force" and make it permanent.
Meanwhile, in McGuire's home district, rural hospitals are struggling to stay open. The cost of groceries and gas are out of control, jobs are disappearing, and businesses are shutting down. Thousands of farmers are struggling to provide for their families. McGuire has focused on attacking DC rather than serving his actual constituents, and he deserves to lose his seat.
Challenging McGuire is Democrat Tom Periello. A former member of Congress, Tom has led organizations that fought for more affordable healthcare, stronger voting rights and reproductive freedoms, and doubling the minimum wage. President Obama asked him to represent our country, negotiating deals to expand human rights and humanitarian access.
