Reject Jeanine Pirro
DC residents are denied the power to elect or appoint our top prosecutor.
Instead, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia — who holds the power to prosecute both local and federal crimes here — is appointed by the president.
And when a president is actively unraveling government institutions the way this one is, that's incredibly dangerous.
Trump has nominated former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as the next U.S. Attorney for DC. We're calling on the Senate reject her nomination. Send letters or join us on the Hill tomorrow to tell the Senate Judiciary Committee that DC doesn't want Pirro as our U.S. Attorney.
Why would Pirro be bad for DC?
She has made virulently islamophobic remarks, including about a sitting member of Congress.[1] She attacked public health measures during COVID.[2] She urged Trump to use the Department of Justice to go after his political enemies.[3] She promoted Trump’s stolen-election conspiracy theories so vigorously that in 2021 she was named as a defendant in a multibillion-dollar defamation lawsuit brought by voting-machine manufacturer Smartmatic.[4] And much more.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is expect to vote on Pirro's nomination this Thursday. We want them to know DC doesn't want her as our top prosecutor. Send letters or join us in the Senate tomorrow to make sure Senators hear from DC that we don't want Pirro in charge of our justice system.
