We're calling on Amazon to stop powering ICE
With agents who won't show their faces and surprise raids, ICE is attacking communities across the country — including here in DC.
ICE depends on our federal tax dollars to carry out these attacks. It also depends on the services of hundreds of private companies.
One of those companies is Amazon. In addition to its dozens of consumer brands, Amazon also provides ICE with cloud computing and data integration services which make the agency's deportation machine possible.
DC doesn't want ICE attacks — and we don't want to support companies making them possible. Starting today, on #PrimeDay, we're calling on Amazon and its Executive Board Chair to change their behavior. Learn more and add your name to our call for Amazon to change its behavior:
Powering ICE isn't the only way Amazon has hurt DC.
Pepco customers will now pay 18% fees to pay for increased energy use from Amazon's data centers in northern Virginia. Amazon was found to have stolen money from its DC-area workers to instead increase profits. The company was found to have discriminated against customers in zip codes East of the River. DC's Attorney General is suing Amazon for illegal price fixing that hurts local businesses. Executive Board Chair Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post and has tilted the paper toward Trump. And Amazon and Bezos donate to the party and politicians now attacking Home Rule.
Add your name to make it clear DC doesn't want to cooperate with companies that power attacks on our communities. Once you've added your name, share this action with friends and neighbors or join us this week to collect signatures during Prime Days.
Petitions during Prime Days
Amazon Prime Days run today through Friday, and during this time of high traffic we want to make sure customers in DC know how the company is powering attacks on our communities.
Join us to collect signatures outside Amazon's Whole Foods store at 1440 P St NW today through Friday from 6-8 PM each day. Sign up for a shift one day this week.
