On Thursday evening, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered DC’s mayor and police department to accept Terry Cole, the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency, as the District’s new “emergency police commissioner” and give him full control of the Metropolitan Police Department during the federal takeover.

Within hours, DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb sent Chief Smith a formal letter with the opinion that “the Bondi Order is unlawful, and you are not legally obligated to follow it.” Now, we need Chief Smith to listen to Attorney General Schwalb.

We call on all DC residents to join us on Friday August 15 from 12-2 PM outside MPD headquarters to add a personal message to the DC Attorney General’s letter about why Chief Smith should protect DC communities and refuse this unlawful order.
