Members of the current Congress have introduced more than 70 legislative attacks against DC. These stand-alone bills, resolutions, and budget riders all seek to change local laws in ways that would make DC communities less safe, and make it harder to meet the needs of people who live here. Congress is choosing to prioritize interference in DC rather than taking desperately needed action on health care, gun violence, ICE funding, and more.
We want Members of Congress to oppose every single bill that attacks DC. That means voting against all bills currently moving through the legislative process as well as any future bills that undermine the power of DC’s local elected leaders.
The people of DC know what our communities need. Elected leaders who are accountable to us are the ones who should be making decisions for us — and that’s not anyone Congress. Current Members and candidates for Congress, we invite you to take the Free DC pledge.
