Encourage Representatives to pass the DC Local Funds Act

On March 14 the Senate passed the DC Local Funds Act (S. 1077), a phenomenal first step to restoring DC’s power over our own local funds. It would not have happened without the powerful organizing that took place last week!

Now the House has to pass this bill. With unanimous bipartisan support in the Senate, we are cautiously optimistic that this bill will move forward. But we need to do more than just hope that’s what happens — we need to put in the work to see it through to the finish line.

W
e want every member of the House to hear from a DC resident in support of this bill. Representatives need to know what this bill is, why it matters, and that DC’s mayor, our entire Council, and every member of the Senate supports it. Here’s how you can help make that happen.

Make calls

We’re setting out to call every single member of the House of Representatives between now and Friday, March 28.

See our call list to know which offices still need to be contacted. You can choose to focus on a state that you have a personal connection to, or any office that hasn’t been contacted yet.

Use this call script to guide your conversation. Our goal this week is to be friendly, informative, and to build as much support as possible for this good bill.

Make office visits

On Tuesday March 25 and Thursday March 27 we’ll visit House offices to deliver information about this bill and ask House members to support it. Register to join us on Tuesday and/or Thursday.
